She grew up in a supportive family where her mother, Pushpa Kumari, works as a teacher at Bakhtiyarpur, and her father, Pravin Kumar, is a clerk in the health department of Bihar. Her humble background didn’t stop her from dreaming big and working hard to achieve her goal of becoming an IAS officer.
Education Qualification
IAS Aakansha Anand pursued her higher studies at the Patna College of Veterinary Sciences, completing her degree between 2016 and 2020. Not only did she graduate, but she also received a Gold Medal for her academic performance. Her education played a key role in shaping her analytical skills, which helped her later in her UPSC journey.
While working as a veterinary officer in the Sitamarhi district of Bihar, she managed her responsibilities while preparing for the civil services examination. This was no easy task, as she had to balance her job and study without attending any formal coaching.
UPSC Journey
IAS Aakansha Anand first attempted the UPSC Civil Services Examination in 2021, but she was unable to clear it. However, she didn’t let that stop her. She attempted the exam again in 2022, where she secured an impressive Rank of 205 in her second attempt. What’s even more remarkable is that Aakansha did not attend any coaching classes. Instead, she relied on YouTube and other free online resources to prepare.
During her UPSC journey, Aakansha had to make a life-changing decision. She had the opportunity to pursue a Postgraduate degree in Veterinary Science, where she was offered a specialization in surgery. It was a great opportunity, but she chose to follow her heart and focused on preparing for the UPSC exam instead. This decision showed her commitment to her dream of becoming an IAS officer.
