Her grandfather Ghanshyam Nagpal was a police officer who was killed while on duty in Sadar Bazar, Delhi in 1954. His father Subhash Nagpal is a retired government officer who was awarded the President’s Medal for distinguished service in the Delhi Cantonment Board.
She met 2011 batch IAS officer Abhishek Singh while preparing for the UPSC exam and fell in love and got married on 25 October. They have 2 children.

Civil Service Exam Details
Durga Shakti Nagpal started preparing for UPSC exam after completing her education and cleared the civil service exam in the year 2008 in the first attempt. But as she dreamed of becoming an IAS, she re-examined in 2009 and cleared UPSC with a rank of 20 in India. After becoming an IAS, she got the Punjab cadre and got her first posting in Mohali.
